Tommy Wong’s Legacy

Tommy Wong was a passionate pickleball player and coach who rapidly rose to become one of Arizona’s top players after taking up the sport in 2016. He was admired for his friendly attitude, sportsmanship, and love of teaching others. Tommy passed away suddenly in 2021 at age 45, leaving behind his wife and two children.

The tournament celebrates Tommy’s spirit while fundraising for youth scholarships to grow pickleball. “My father believed that pickleball is for everyone,” said SPA President Judith Coronel, Tommy’s daughter. “We organize this event to honor his inclusive legacy.”
