Where: Held at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California.
Tournament Details: [Tournament Info Link Here]
Why It Matters: This marks the first major tournament of the year for the PPA and serves as the season’s inaugural “major” event. Offering double points for PPA tour professionals, it’s a significant kickoff for the 2025 season. The event promises excitement, with fresh partnerships being put to the test. However, the much-discussed split between the Johns brothers will persist, at least for this tournament.
The WPBL League
When: The final week of January and the first weekend of February 2025.
Where: The event will take place in Mumbai, India. Specific venue details are yet to be finalized.
Why it matters: In 2024, there were no Indian pickleball leagues. Fast forward to 2025, and we now have two leagues happening nearly consecutively, both offering enough financial backing to attract top-tier players from the US and other countries.
PPA Pickleball Open in Australia
When: The weekend of February 2nd, 2025.
Where: Melbourne Convention Center, Melbourne, Australia. For more details, click the tournament info link.
Why it matters: This marks the PPA’s first major step into the global market. The event will feature top PPA players alongside elite talent from Australia’s MLP league and other Asian nations.
Stop 1 of the PWR World Series: Dubai
When: Expected to take place in mid-February; specifics are yet to be confirmed.
Where: Set to be held in Dubai; location details are still to be finalized.
Why it matters: This marks the first of three events in the PWR 2025 “World Series,” each offering a substantial prize pool. The Dubai event will feature a $1.5M prize, which is five times larger than any previously announced professional prize pool. This level of funding is expected to significantly impact the pro circuit, with rumors suggesting that many PPA-exclusive pros are already seeking exceptions to participate.
Indian PWR League
When: Scheduled for the early weeks of March 2025, a shift from the original January date (thanks to Erik Tice of Dink for the correction).
Where: The event will take place in Mumbai, India. The exact venue details are yet to be confirmed at the time of writing.
Why it’s important: This event marks the next significant prize purse hosted by the new international professional tour, PWR. With a prize pool of $540K, it has already drawn several elite players from across the globe.
The Fort Open APP
When: The weekend concluding on April 6th, 2025

DUPR Individual National Championships for Colleges
When: The weekend concluding on April 13th, 2024
Where: Location to be determined at the time of writing
Why it matters: This event is one of two DUPR Collegiate championships. It provides an opportunity for players and doubles teams to vie for individual collegiate titles. In 2025, it will mark the third year of crowning individual champions, with past winners including prominent professionals such as Jack Munro and Collin Shick.
US Open
When: The weekend of May 3rd, 2024
Where: East Naples Community Park, Naples, Florida. Tournament details are here.
Why it matters: Historically, this event was the most significant pro competition of the season. While pro participation has declined recently due to exclusive contracts, it still attracts a large amateur crowd and remains a key event for Senior pros. In 2024, over 3,250 players participated, and the tournament has been held annually since 2016.
PPA Atlanta Championship
When: The weekend concludes on May 18th, 2025.
Where: The Atlanta Slam has traditionally taken place at the Life Time facility in Peach Tree Corners in mid-May. However, the official location is still to be determined at the time of writing. For tournament details, click here.
Why it matters: As the second major PPA tournament of the season, its location on the East Coast and its well-regarded venue have made it one of the most sought-after events of the year.
2 Stop of the PWR World Series: Madrid
When: Mid-May 2025 (exact dates to be determined)
Where: Madrid, Spain (exact venues to be announced)
Why it matters: This event marks the second of three World Series stops, featuring a $1 million prize pool. The US professional pickleball scene includes many players with strong European connections, and Madrid’s proximity to the East Coast makes it an ideal location for a large turnout. PWR’s Pranav Kohil shared on the “This Pickleball Life” podcast that Spain was a natural selection for the event, thanks to its rich history in racquet sports.
APP Open in New York City
When: Memorial Day weekend, May 2025.
Where: Held at the USTA Tennis Center in Queens, the venue of the US Open Tennis.
Why it matters: This is the most significant event on the APP’s schedule, taking place at the country’s most renowned tennis facility. The event boasts the most competitive APP draws and is a key stop for the Senior Pro tour. Last year, the APP introduced its “Shuffle Draw” at this event, which quickly became a fan and player favorite.
APP Open in Newport Beach
When: The weekend concluding July 6th, 2025
Where: Newport Beach Country Club, Newport Beach, CA
Why it’s significant: This marks the third of four major events on the APP calendar. Last year, over 1,700 players took part in this competition. The venue is exceptional, and the tournament attracts a large number of participants from the Southern California region.
The MLP Mid-Season Tournament and the Beer City Open
When: The weekend ending July 13th, 2025
Where: Belknap Park, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Why it matters: The Beer City Open is a historic and influential independent tournament, first established in 2018 and co-hosted by pro player Andrea Koop. While it has previously been affiliated with pro tours, it now plays a key role in the MLP’s mid-season tournament. This event sees all 22 teams compete in a double-elimination format, culminating in a champion being crowned at the end of the weekend, reflecting the spirit of classic competition. It’s MLP at its finest, with players battling for both the title and a prize check.
Stop 3 of the PWR World Series: Las Vegas
When: Mid-July 2025 (specific dates yet to be determined)
Where: Las Vegas, Nevada (precise venue still to be confirmed)
Why it’s significant: This marks the third and final stop of the World Series, with a prize pool of $1 million. It is also the only PWR event taking place in the United States, specifically in a major travel hotspot, ensuring large attendance and significant interest. PWR CEO Kohil hinted at a potential venue on the November podcast with Jill Braverman, mentioning The Sphere.
The Champions’ Tournament
When: Mid-August 2025 (exact dates to be determined)
Where: Brigham City, Utah
Why it matters: The TOC is one of the most enduring tournaments in our sport, having been established in 2013. Hosted on city-owned courts in this quaint town in southern Utah, it has consistently attracted top players for over a decade. While it was previously affiliated with the PPA, its official sanctioning status for 2025 is still unclear.
2025 MLP Playoffs
When: The final two weekends of August 2025.
Where: Round 1 in San Diego, followed by Round 2 in New York.
Why it matters: These are the high-stakes playoffs of the 2025 MLP season, where emotions and competition peak. If the format mirrors that of 2024, the quarterfinals will take place in Round 1, while the semifinals and finals will happen in Round 2. The New York event will be held at Wollman Rink in Central Park, a venue that hosted a highly successful MLP event in 2024, drawing large crowds and enthusiastic support.
PPA: Slam in September
When: Mid-September 2025 (specific dates yet to be confirmed).
Where: Location to be determined.
Why it matters: This is the third of four Slam events on the PPA Tour. Last year’s mid-September Slam was originally planned for the Lindner Family Tennis Center but was relocated to Atlanta due to ongoing construction at the host site. While a tournament is planned for Cincinnati in mid-September this year, it is not currently designated as a Slam event.
2025 MLP Cup
When: The weekend of November 2nd, 2025
Where: The venue and host are yet to be determined.
Why it matters: MLP is launching a new stand-alone tournament to close out its season—the MLP Cup. This double-elimination event, much like the mid-season tournament, will conclude with the crowning of the Cup champion by the end of the weekend.
The 2025 UPA Worlds PPA/UPA
When: Mid-November 2025 (specific date to be announced).
Where: Brookhaven Country Club, Dallas, Texas.
Why it matters: The UPA Worlds was the sport’s biggest event in 2024 and is expected to grow even more in 2025. As the fourth major of the PPA, it attracts a vast number of top professionals. Since its inception, this MLP-style competition has been dominated by three powerhouse colleges: Utah Tech (2024 winner, 2022 runner-up), Virginia (2023 winner, 2024 runner-up), and North Carolina (2022 winner, 2023 finalist). College tennis is rapidly growing in popularity across the U.S., with numerous regional tournaments and surging interest on campuses nationwide.
The 2025 USAP Nationals
When: Mid-November 2025 (exact date yet to be confirmed)
Where: Arizona Athletic Grounds, Mesa, Arizona (exact location to be determined)
Why it matters: This event marks the National Championships of USA Pickleball, the sport’s governing body. It is the pinnacle competition of the year, where participation requires qualification through “Golden Ticket” events hosted nationwide throughout the season. While the UPA World Championships and PPA’s exclusivity contracts have somewhat diminished its prestige, this tournament remains the most significant event for dedicated amateur players across the country.
Finals of the PPA Tour
When: Early December 2025 (exact date to be determined).
Where: Life Time San Clemente, California (specific site yet to be finalized).
Why it matters: This marks the season-ending Tour finals for the PPA, inspired by similar events in professional tennis. The top eight singles players and top eight doubles teams will battle in round-robin matches, culminating in the most competitive and high-stakes event of the year.
